There are two things that love is.
Love is patient. Love is kind.
There are other means by which love expresses itself, but these two things are what love actually is.

Love is a 19-year-old homeless mother paying 16 dollars for her children to eat at McDonald's, and becoming incensed when the people behind the counter forget her son's apple dippers.
Love is a child buying "easter presents" for her entire family, although she does not live with any of them.
Love is a brother inviting his unlucky sister to live with him during her third pregnancy, when he supported her through her first and second pregnancies; it is him giving her daughter money to buy cupcakes for her entire class, and sleeping in the living room on the floor so that her children can sleep in his bed.
Love is so very patient.
