Work is God's gift. John Baille says to pray for the unemployed, "who know not the joy of diligent labor."

In fact, all things are God's gifts. Remember Denise Levertov, who says, "The world is not with us enough." Meaning that the world is not impressed on us in constant awareness, what the Puritans called the discipline of watchfulness. It is found in Paul's exhortation to "pray continuously, with all kinds of prayers and petitions."
