Thoughts on 24

Things I wish would happen in the next season of 24 (season 7)...

1. That it would be on Jack's birthday, so that everyone would go around wishing Jack happy birthday, even the terrorists that he was about to kill.

2. That a person that Jack loves would make it through the entire season without something terrible happening to them, causing Jack to question devoting his life to protecting our country.

3. That Jack would say "there's no time," then look at his watch, and say "actually, there is a little bit of time."

4. That Jack would get into a car and drive to find some terrorists, and on the way, sing along to Eric Clapton, or whatever awesome music he uses to get him pumped up to kill terrorists.

5. That at some point Jack would say, "I have to go to the bathroom." You know, since I assume he usually does that during the commercial breaks.

6. That Chloe O'Brian wouldn't die. Every season that goes by makes me more and more nervous for her.

7. That Chase would come back. Remember him? He was cool. Also, that Kim Bauer would not come back. Other characters that I wouldn't mind seeing come back. Sylar from "Heroes." Remember him from season three? Also, I like Karen Hayes, and Tom Lennox. And Mike Novick. And Aaron Pierce, the secret service agent. Also, I hope Charles Logan didn't really die. Also Noah Daniels, vice-president in season 6. And just for kicks, Sherri Palmer rises from the dead and makes me throw something at the screen.

8. That two characters would meet, fall in love, and get married. All in the same 24 hour period.

9. That Kim Bauer would never show up again. I think I already mentioned that, but it bears repeating. Is it any coincidence that season 4-6 are far superior to 1-3?

10. That Michelle and Tony would rise from the dead. I still miss them.

That's enough nerdy thoughts on 24.

Personal stuff

I was reading through some of my old journals, and found this entry, dating from December 31st, 2006...

-------------------

Reflections, and Lessons from a difficult year

1. My sin and my capacity for self-deception is far deeper than I thought.
2. My will is extremely weak--mostly the work of circumstance and little surrendered to the Lord.
3. God is a gracious God, who answers prayers even when my sin is grievous.
4. There is a deep and abiding tenderness in God. His mercies are gentle and soothing.
5. Isolation is deadly. I have a great need for the body of Christ.
6. My preaching [by this I mean what I profess] is often far beyond my actions--a dangerous thing.
7. The word is a constant companion--teaching in all things.
8. It is I who is weak--God remains faithful and strong.

-----------------------------

I thought it was interesting.
